With a population of 39,150 , Whitestone, New York is a relatively small city. There are just 2 nursing homes in the city, which doesn't give you too many options. This relatively small group of nursing homes here received a city grade of B-. We found this city grade to be considerably better than the city grade of C received by the nearby city of East Elmhurst. Although that is not an awful grade, Whitestone appears to be a better bet. One of the best aspects of this city's report card is its stellar inspection score, which we will address in the next paragraph.
This city's nursing homes received a fairly ordinary overall grade, but we really would like to point out that some of its facilities nearly flawless health inspections in recent years. We awarded it an elite grade of A+ in this category. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in computing our inspection grades. One of those factors is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of deficiencies is usually more important than the number of deficiencies, as some are quite minor. In addition, we also wanted to point out that we awarded Whitestone an A- in our long-term care category. Lastly, this place earned abysmal grades for our short-term care and nursing areas respectively.
