Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

One of the many reasons this place turned out to be a great nursing home is that it earned an A+ inspection grade. This is as good as it gets in this category. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in determining these inspection scores. One key factor is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of these deficiencies is usually more meaningful than the quantity of deficiencies, as some deficiencies end up being relatively insignificant. Although this place had some deficiencies on its inspection report, none of them were serious based on CMS' scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

Adding to its top-shelf profile, this facility also was given a strong short-term care grade, with a score of A. In calculating our short-term care ratings, we scrutinize a facility's levels of skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists respiratory therapists and other highly trained professionals. This grade is considered to be a fair assessment of a nursing home's ability to rehabilitate patients. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, based on the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The final metric we assessed in this category is the number of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return home. We discovered that 6.5 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-plus

Another one of this facility's impressive category grades came in the area of nursing care. We awarded them one of our better scores in that area, with a grade of B+. Our nursing grade is primarily associated with a facility's level of nurse staffing. This particular nursing home provided 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This place performed very well in the area of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

Turning to the fourth area, this nursing home also excelled in the long-term care category. We awarded it a grade of B+ in this category. This wrapped up a very impressive profile. Nursing homes that receive this type of score in long-term care tend to provide consistent 24/7 care to make sure patients are well cared for. After we finished looking at the volume of care provided by nurses, we then looked at the nursing home's vaccination record. This facility vaccinated 94.44444 percent of its patients for pneumonia, which is an impressive figure. Pneumonia is too frequently a life or death health condition for nursing home patients so we strongly prefer when a nursing home does not take any chances. Lastly, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
