We also looked at the nursing homes in the nearby city of New Rochelle, which received an impressive city grade in its own right. Nevertheless, we found the nursing homes in Tarrytown to be even better than the ones in New Rochelle. This city's strong report card was highlighted by its nursing homes' inspection grades, which we will address in the next section.
In addition to having excellent nursing homes on the whole, this city really excelled in the category of inspections, where we gave it an A+. Not many cities performed better in this category. Perhaps the most important factor we look at in computing our inspection scores is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a facility's inspection reports. Nursing homes with higher scores in this category typically dodged the more severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. In addition, Tarrytown also performed extremely well in the area of long-term care, where it received an A for this category. Rounding out its impressive report card, the city earned a B+ in our nursing category and a B+ in the area of short-term care. We truly found this city to be very strong everywhere we looked.
