Richmond Hill, New York is a relatively small city with 36,256 people. The city features only one nursing home, which is fewer than we were hoping for. We were relieved to discover that its only nursing home received a top-notch overall grade of A-. We also looked at the facilities in the nearby city of Maspeth. With Maspeth receiving a terrible city grade, we found the nursing home in Richmond Hill to be rated much higher than most of the nursing homes in Maspeth. The best aspect of this facility's impressive profile is its inspection rating. Inspection grades are discussed in the next section
On top of being an excellent nursing home overall, this city's only nursing home really excelled in the area of inspections, where we gave it an A+. Few nursing homes performed better in this category. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in calculating these inspection grades. One of those factors is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of these deficiencies is usually more important than the number of deficiencies, as some of these can be relatively minor. This nursing home also really excelled in the area of short-term care, where it received an A-. In the last two categories, Richmond Hill received slightly below average grades for our long-term care and nursing categories.
