Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

A
Historical
On the list of its many dominant scores, this nursing home received an excellent short-term care score. In fact, we gave it a grade of A in that category. In our short-term care assessment, we try to forge a meaningful gauge for rehabilitation. In doing so, we look at a nursing home's scope of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. Remarkably, this facility provides approximately 1.5 times as many hours of services from registered nurses and physical therapists than most nursing homes we looked at. Finally, we looked at the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that it outperformed the vast majority of nursing homes in the nation with 61.2 percent of its patients returning home.

Long-term Care Quality
A-
Historical
The third category we looked at is long-term care. Adding to its high-end resume, this nursing home also performed well in that category. In fact, it received a of A- in that category. Nursing homes that excel in long-term care tend to provide patients with closer supervision and stay on top of routine healthcare services. After assessing the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we turned to the facility's vaccination records. This nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which is far higher than the majority of nursing homes. This facility also keeps its patients out of the hospital. While it had 2.63 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, its risk adjusted score was better than most nursing homes due to it having more complex patients.
Nurse Quality
B
Historical
The final area we analyzed is this nursing home's weakest area. However, even its lowest point would actually be a highlight for most facilities. We gave it a favorable grade of B in our nursing category. We weighed the qualifications of nurses at the facility, in addition to the number of hours the nurses spent with patients, in calculating our grade in this category. This facility boasts an impressive 4 hours of nursing care per resident on a daily basis, of which more than one hour of those hours were provided by registered nurses. This is among the most highly trained levels of nurses. Lastly, we also looked at nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. These include minimizing residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We view these areas as good indicators of the quality of nursing care provided, since better care tends to reduce these problems.
