Our data for Boston, Massachusetts is based on just one nursing home we found in the city. We were relieved to discover that its only nursing home received a superb overall grade of A-. For comparison's sake, we also looked at the facilities in the nearby city of Chelsea, which has some good nursing homes of its own. Nevertheless, we found that this facility in Boston was even better than most of the facilities in Chelsea. The best aspect of this facility's impressive report card is its short-term care rating. In addition to performing well in its overall grade, this city's only nursing home performed especially well in the area of short-term care. Consequently, it earned one of our best scores in that area with a grade of A-. In computing these short-term care ratings, we look at the nursing home's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. The purpose is to create a measure for sizing up the rehabilitation services of various facilities. This place also performed remarkably well in our nursing category. In fact, it received an A-. Rounding out its impressive profile, the city received favorable grades for our inspections and long-term care areas as well.
