Nurse Quality

Grade: A

On top of receiving a great overall grade, this facility also received an excellent nursing score, with an A. Our nursing grade is based on several datapoints, but the paramount consideration is the level of nurse hours spent with patients. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This nursing home performed very well when it comes to minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

Adding to its first-rate assessment, this nursing home also was awarded an excellent short-term care score, with a score of A. In computing our short-term care ratings, we size up the nursing home's levels of skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists speech therapists and other licensed professionals. This area is frequently a meaningful assessment of a nursing home's rehabilitation services. Fortunately, it looks like this facility employs registered nurses. Not every facility employs these skilled professionals. However, according to the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The final item we assessed in this area is the number of residents that were able to return home from the facility. We found that 6.2 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home as opposed to remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

Moving on our next area, this facility was awarded first-rate long-term care grade. In fact, we awarded it a score of A in this area. In a long-term care environment, the facility's primary goal is to keep patients as healthy and safe as possible. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate residents. In addition to assessing the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility vaccinated 85.23206 percent of its residents. This is slightly below what we anticipated but still a respectable percentage. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Facility Inspections

Grade: B-plus

Finally, we also wanted to draw your attention to this facility's nearly flawless inspections. We gave them an impressive grade of B+ in this category. These inspection scores weigh several factors, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these issues by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This particular nursing home received 6 deficiencies on its inspection report. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
