Nurse Quality

Grade: A

To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A for our nursing rating. Nursing grades are tied to quantity of nursing care available. This particular nursing home provided 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This place performed very well when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

On the list of its many elite grades, this facility received an excellent short-term care score. In fact, it received a grade of A in that area. In determining our short-term care ratings, we assess the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. The purpose is to formulate a barometer for sizing up the rehabilitation services of nursing homes. Fortunately, it appear that this facility employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. However, according to the data they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we assessed the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 5.9 percent of this facility's residents returned home.

Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

Turning to our inspection category, this nursing home excelled in that area, which is based on the facility's recent government inspection reports. In fact, we awarded it an impressive grade of A- for that category. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in determining these inspection ratings. One of those factors is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some deficiencies end up being quite insignificant. While this nursing home had a few deficiencies on its government inspection report, none of them were major deficiencies based on CMS' scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

In the final category, we awarded this facility a grade of A- for its long-term care grade. This finished off a first-rate profile. Facilities that receive this type of score in long-term care tend to provide consistent 24/7 care to make sure residents are kept in good health. After we finished assessing the amount of nursing care, we turned to the facility's vaccination record. This facility vaccinated 99.346405 percent of its patients for pneumonia, which is an impressive figure. Pneumonia can be a life threatening health condition for nursing home patients so we prefer when a nursing home doesn't roll the dice on this issue. Finally, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
