Facility Inspections
One of the many reasons this place ended up being a quality nursing home is that it earned an A+ inspection grade. This is just about as good as it gets in this category. Arguably the most critical factor we look at in computing our inspection ratings is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes with higher scores in this area typically avoided the more severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home also received an A+ for its long-term care grade. Long-term care ratings of this caliber generally require both around the clock care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine medical care. On top of assessing the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility vaccinated 100 percent of its patients, which is an impressive figure. Pneumonia tragically can be a life or death illness for nursing home residents so we strongly prefer when a facility doesn't take any chances. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Short-term Care Quality
The next area we analyzed was short-term care. Adding to its superb resume, this facility also performed well in this area. In fact, we gave it a grade of of A in that area. In the category of short-term care, we endeavor to qualify measures of a nursing home's rehabilitation services. We assess a nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses and physical and occupational therapists. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, based on the information this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we assessed the percentage of residents that ultimately were able to return home from this nursing home. We found that 7 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.
Nurse Quality
In the last area, we gave this nursing home a grade of A+ for our nursing grade. This completed a very impressive report card. We looked at the licensure of nurses employed by the facility, as well as the quantity of time the nurses spent with patients, in computing our rating in this area. This particular nursing home provided 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This place performed very well in the area of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.
