With 105,183 people, Carlsbad, California is an average size city. Surprisingly, there are just 3 nursing homes there, which is not quite as many as we expected in a city of this size. This place's nursing homes received a superb city grade of A, so what this place lacks in quantity, it makes up for in quality. For comparison's sake, we also looked at the facilities in the nearby city of Murrieta, which received a city grade of D. We found Carlsbad to be on a whole other level. One of the best aspects of this city's stellar report card is its nursing homes' short-term care grades. We discuss short-term care in the next paragraph.
In addition to receiving a strong overall grade, many of the nursing homes in Carlsbad performed remarkably well in short-term care. In fact, we awarded Carlsbad a grade of A+ for this category, which is one of our highest scores. Cities with these kinds of short-term care ratings generally have nursing homes offering physical therapy, highly skilled nursing and other services related to rehabilitation. In addition, Carlsbad performed remarkably well in the category of inspections as well. In fact, some of the nursing homes in the city received virtually perfect inspection reports this year. Consequently, we awarded Carlsbad a grade of A in that area. Wrapping up its excellent report card, this place received grades of A and B+ for our nursing and long-term care categories respectively.
