There are five nursing homes in Yonkers, New York, which at least gives you a few choices. This place's limited supply of nursing homes were given a good city grade of B. By way of comparison, we gave the nursing homes in the local city of East Elmhurst a city grade of C, which is much lower grade. Naturally, we found the facilities in Yonkers to be on a whole other level than the ones in East Elmhurst. In addition to performing well in its overall grade, most of the facilities in Yonkers performed remarkably well in the category of inspections. In fact, some of the nursing homes in the city received nearly perfect inspection reports this year. As a result, Yonkers received one of our best ratings in that area with a grade of A. Inspection grades are tied to items located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places that excel in this area have few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. In addition, Yonkers also earned one of our higher grades in our long-term care category, with a B. Finally, the city earned a grade of B- for its nursing score and a B- in short-term care.
