We looked at the only nursing home in Brandon, Florida. This nursing home earned an overall grade of B-, which is a a decent score. This is right about in the middle of the pack by national standards, which is perfectly respectable. The best part of this facility's report card was its remarkable short-term care grade. Short-term care grades are discussed in the following section.
While its overall rating was not elite, this city's nursing home performed extremely well in our short-term care category. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A for that category, which is one of our highest scores. In calculating our short-term care ratings, we look at a nursing home's levels of highly skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists respiratory therapists and other types of therapists. This area is considered to be a solid measure of a facility's ability to rehabilitate patients. This facility also earned an impressive nursing rating. We awarded it a grade of B in that category. In our final two categories, we gave Brandon grades of C and D for our long-term care and inspections categories respectively. Even with an otherwise excellent profile, an inspections grade of this caliber is still deeply troubling.
