Facility Inspections
While we were not high on this nursing home overall, we awarded it a grade of B- for inspections. This grade is more respectable than the facility's overall grade. Our inspection scores are tied to many datapoints located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are a key item to look for on these reports. Severe deficiencies indicate a threat to the well being of residents. This particular nursing home received 7 deficiencies on its inspection report. Another red flag is that CMS cited this nursing home for possible abuse or neglect. Hopefully, its performance improves in the future, but until then we simply can't recommend this facility.
Nurse Quality
One of the other reasons we rated this facility so highly is that it received a very impressive nursing rating. This proved to be its second best category grade. In that category, we awarded this facility a grade of B-. Nursing grades are heavily correlated with nurse staffing levels. This nursing home provides only 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a somewhat uninspiring figure which is well below the national average. Finally, while this nursing home got dinged a bit for its nursing hours, it actually excelled in some of our quality-based measures. With less than five percent of its residents suffering from pressure ulcers, it did well in this metric.

Short-term Care Quality
The third area we graded is short-term care. In that area, we gave this nursing home a solid grade of B-. In calculating our short-term care scores, we scrutinize a facility's levels of highly skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists respiratory therapists and other highly skilled individuals. This grade is more often than not a solid assessment of the facility's rehabilitation services. Unfortunately, we found that this nursing home provided fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other nursing homes. The tricky part is determining what bearing this had on quality of care. The last measure we considered in this category is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the facility and return home. We discovered that just 5.1 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home, which is below average.
Long-term Care Quality
The last area we scored was long-term care. We awarded it a C in this area. This is a fair grade in this area. With our long-term care assessment, we assess the quantity of care provided by a nursing home, as well as a handful of qualitative statistics. One of the statistics we considered on top of nurse's aid hours was vaccines. Fortunately, this facility administered the pneumonia vaccination to 99.35691 percent of its residents. This nursing home was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. It had only 0.04 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
