Facility Inspections

Grade: A

With an overall grade this high, it should come as no surprise that this facility excelled in the area of inspections, where it earned an A. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in determining our inspection ratings. One of those factors is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of the deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some of these are quite minor. This facility was assessed 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none of the deficiencies were considered to be major deficiencies. This indicates that the inspectors didn't consider any of these deficiencies to pose an immediate threat to resident health or safety. We should note that deficiency-free inspection reports are uncommon in the industry.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

This nursing home also was awarded a strong short-term care grade. Indeed, this is this facility's second most impressive category score. In that area, we awarded this facility a score of A. In our short-term care assessment, we strive to forge a valuable measure for rehabilitation services. In this process, we assess a facility's level of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as respiratory therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, based on the data this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last measure we assessed in this area is the number of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We found that 6 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-plus

This facility is also strong in the area of nursing, where it received a grade of B+. It outperformed most nursing homes in this category. When computing a nursing home's nursing grade, we weigh the number of hours nurses commit to residents and the levels of training of the nurses. This nursing home averages 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This nursing home performed very well when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B

The last category we looked at was long-term care, in which this nursing home received a grade of B. Even though this wound up being its lowest category grade, this is still a favorable score. When nursing homes receive a score in this range in long-term care it typically means it has plenty of staff and is an overall good place to live on a permanent basis. Once we looked at the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we turned to the facility's vaccination statistics. This facility vaccinated 100 percent of its residents for pneumonia. Vaccines are vital to keeping patients out of the hospital. Finally, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
