San Pedro, California is a medium size city with 80,777 people. It has just 2 nursing homes, which is not quite as many as we expected in a city of this size. We awarded the nursing homes here city grade of C, which is not as strong of a grade as we had hoped for. We somewhat surprisingly found this city grade was better than the grade we gave the nearby city of Bell Gardens. With Bell Gardens receiving such an awful grade, San Pedro certainly appears to be a better option. One of the highlights of this city's report card is its nursing homes' impressive long-term care grades, which is addressed in the following paragraph.
This city's most impressive category grade came in the area of long-term care. In this category, we gave the city a B. Long-term care grades in this range generally require both around the clock care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine healthcare services. This city earned its next best grade in the category of inspections, where we gave it a B-, which also isn't a bad grade. In the last two categories, the city received a B- for its nursing score and a C in the area of short-term care.
