Registered Staff Hours
Nurse Quality
Although we gave this facility a terrible overall grade, we awarded it a grade of B- for our nursing rating. The nursing score assesses a handful of datapoints, however, the primary one is the quantity of nurse hours per patient per week. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident daily. This is a lower figure than we were hoping for. Lastly, our nursing grades also consider quality-based measures, such as preventing major falls. Despite not having the most impressive total nursing hours, this nursing home actually performed admirably in the area of preventing major falls. This is usually a good indicator that a place has sufficient quality controls in place. Some falls could be avoided if a nursing home provides enough nurses to assist its residents.
Long-term Care Quality
Sadly, this facility only received a D for its long-term care score, which turns out to be one of its higher category scores. In a long-term care environment, the nursing home's primary goal is to maintain patients' quality of life and keep them safe. After assessing the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we then looked at the facility's vaccination statistics. This facility vaccinated 100 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which is more than the average nursing home. To our surprise, this facility also fared well at keeping its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. Unfortunately, a few of its other scores in this category were not as favorable as these.

Facility Inspections
Unfortunately, with a grade of D in the inspection category, this facility performed relatively poorly in that area. Our inspection scores weigh many items found on the facility's recent inspection reports. If you find too many deficiencies on the reports, this is generally a bad sign. Severe deficiencies indicate a threat to resident safety. This nursing home had 6 deficiencies by government inspectors. The only favorable thing we found is that none of the deficiencies were in the categories that suggest they caused a risk to resident safety or health. Finally, this facility also received 6 substantiated complaints in recent years. This is yet another bad sign.
Short-term Care Quality
Moving on to the fourth area, this facility really did not perform well in this category either. With a very poor grade of F in short-term care, this is just about as as uninspiring as it gets. In the area of short-term care, we try to assess measures of a facility's rehabilitation services. We assess the nursing home's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses and physical therapists. Based on its weak rating in this category, we weren't surprised to find that this nursing home offers far fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most nursing homes. Lastly, we considered the percentage of residents who who were able to eventually return home from this nursing home. This facility didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 4.6 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.
