With a population of 89,747 , Westminster, California is a moderately populated city. Surprisingly, there are only 3 nursing homes there, which is fewer than we expected in a city of this size. With a city grade of B, this city's nursing homes turned out to be respectable options. We also assessed the facilities in the nearby city of Long Beach, which received a city grade of B-. While there is nothing wrong with this grade, we found the facilities Westminster to be better on the whole. This place's nursing homes are stronger in some categories than others, but it did not have any bad scores in any of the major categories. Additional information about its category grades can be found in the next paragraph.
In addition to performing well in its overall grade, most of the facilities in Westminster performed spectacularly well in terms of its inspection grade. In fact, some of the nursing homes in the city received almost flawless inspection reports this year. As a result, the city received one of our best scores in that category with a grade of A-. Perhaps the most important factor we consider in determining our inspection grades is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a nursing home's inspection reports. Facilities with higher grades in this category typically avoided the more severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. In addition, we also wanted to point out that we awarded Westminster an A- in our long-term care rating. Lastly, we gave Westminster a B for its nursing grade and a C in short-term care.
