With a population of 42,230 people, Huntington, New York is a relatively small city. There are only 2 nursing homes there, which doesn't provide you with too many choices. This place's nursing homes received an excellent city grade of B+, so what this city lacks in quantity, it makes up for in quality. We were impressed enough with Huntington to rank it as one of the twenty five highest rated cities in the state of New York. This statistic is also a reminder that New York has plenty of cities with high quality facilities. This city's profile was also very consistent as it didn't receive a single weak category grade either. You can read more about these in the next section.
On top of having quality nursing homes on the whole, this city really excelled in the area of inspections, where it received a grade of A+. Very few cities fared this well in this category. Arguably the most important factor we look at in computing our inspection scores is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places with better scores in this category most likely avoided the most severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. In addition, we also awarded Huntington a grade of A- for our long-term care rating. In the other categories we looked at, Huntington earned slightly below average grades for our short-term care and nursing categories.
