Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

On top of receiving a strong overall grade, this facility also earned first-rate government inspections in recent years. We awarded it one of our best scores in this area, with an A+. Inspection ratings are tied to many items located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes that receive favorable grades in this category tend to have few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these facilities should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. Fortunately, although this facility had some minor dings on its report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means the government inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. The fact that none of the deficiencies were severe leaves us less concerned with this inspection report.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

This facility received impressive scores in the area of long-term care as well. Indeed, it received one of our most favorable grades in that area with a area of A-. When facilities receive a grade in this range in long-term care it generally means it has plenty of staff and is an overall good place to live on a permanent basis. In addition to looking at the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home provided the vaccine to 94.28571 percent of its residents, which is higher than the average nursing home. Lastly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0.03 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

This facility's next highest category turned out to be its short-term care score, where it received a B-. Short-term care grades are meaningful for residents in need of rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually mandates additional skilled nursing services. This means a vast spectrum of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other types of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this facility employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. However, according to the data this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Finally, we considered the number of residents that ultimately were able to return home from this facility. We found that 5.2 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was well below the national average.

Nurse Quality

Grade: D

The final category we analyzed is nursing. We awarded this facility a grade of D for the area of nursing, rendering this its least impressive category grade. In calculating our nursing grades, we look at both staffing levels and the skill levels of the nurses. This facility provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis. This is not a very impressive figure. Finally, we also looked at a few quality-based metrics in calculating our nursing scores. This place was above average in two of the major metrics we focus on, with solid scores for minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. These statistics are typically reliable indicators of the quality of nursing care available.
