Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

In addition to being a great overall grade, this facility also received A+ health inspections in recent years. Its inspections were virtually flawless. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in computing these inspection ratings. One key factor is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of these deficiencies is usually more important than the number of deficiencies, as some of these are quite minor. Although this facility had some deficiencies on its report, none of them were severe based on CMS' deficiency scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

This nursing home was given impressive grades in the area of long-term care as well. Consequently, we gave it one of our most dominant grades in that category with a area of A-. Nursing homes that excel in this category tend to provide patients with better supervision and stay on top of routine healthcare services. Once we assessed the quantity of nursing care, we next considered the facility's vaccination data. This nursing home vaccinated 99.16551 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which is an impressive figure. Pneumonia is often a deadly illness for nursing home patients so we strongly prefer when a facility doesn't leave this to chance. Finally, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

This nursing home received a strong short-term care score as well. We awarded it one of our higher grades in that area with a grade of B. In determining our short-term care scores, we look at a nursing home's levels of highly skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists speech therapists and other highly trained professionals. This category is typically a useful measure of the nursing home's rehabilitation. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. However, according to the data they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we assessed the percentage of residents who ultimately returned home from this facility. We found that 5.4 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B

The final category we analyzed is nursing, in which this facility was awarded a B. This nursing home did not turn out to have any real weak links. There are a number of criteria included in this area. Most of these factors are tied to the quantity and quality of nurse staffing. This particular nursing home provided 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality measures and this facility excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any nursing home the nation in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can frequently be avoided by providing better nursing care, such as employing a system of moving residents even once per day.
