With more than 15 nursing homes in the city, you ought to be be able to find a quality nursing home in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. These nursing homes received on average an overall grade of C. This isn't a terrible grade, but it is not as strong of a score as we like to see either. For comparison's sake, we also looked at the nursing homes in the nearby city of La Place, which received a below average city grade of D. While neither city received a favorable grade, Baton Rouge looks like the slightly better choice. This city was stronger in some categories than others, but it did not have terrible scores in any of the major areas discussed below. Additional information about its category grades is available in the next paragraph.
This city's overall grade was propped up by its impressive health inspections in recent years. We awarded the city one of our better grades in this area, with a B+. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in determining these inspection ratings. One of those factors is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more important than the number of deficiencies, as some of these end up being relatively insignificant. Baton Rouge's next best grade was in our long-term care category, where it earned a B-. In the last two categories, we awarded the city a C for its short-term care grade and a grade of C for nursing.
