To pair with its favorable overall grade, we awarded this facility a grade of A+ for inspections. Inspection scores account for a host of factors found on a nursing home's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we look at is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Nursing homes with higher grades in this category usually have very few of these severe deficiencies. Unfortunately, it does not look like we were able to find deficiency counts for this nursing home. Without complete information regarding deficiencies for this facility, it was challenging to fully evaluate the place in the area of inspections.

One of the other reasons we graded this facility so highly is that it earned a very impressive nursing rating. In fact, nursing proved to be its second best category grade. In that area, we gave this facility a grade of A+. In computing our nursing scores, we analyze both nursing hours and the skill levels of the nurses. This nursing home provides 0.7 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality measures and this facility excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any facility the country in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can often be avoided by offering better nursing care, such as employing a policy of moving residents at least once a day.

Moving on our third area, this top notch nursing home also was superb in the category of short-term care. In this category, we awarded it a A+. Few facilities fared better in this category. With our short-term care category, we seek to create a valuable barometer for rehabilitation services. In this process, we look at a nursing home's offerings of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as respiratory therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this facility employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, based on the information this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last datapoint we considered in this area is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We found that 6.6 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.

The last area we assessed is long-term care. We gave this nursing home an acceptable score in this category, with a B-. While this wasn't as favorable as a few of its other grades, it is nevertheless not a terrible score. Our long-term care scores are based on the nursing home's volume of care. This includes a broad scope of personal care services, ranging from assistance with activities of daily living to routine healthcare services. In addition to considering the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. We weren't able to locate information on vaccination rates. Finally, this facility was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
