Gilbert, Arizona is a large city with 211,167 people. The city has only 2 nursing homes, which is fewer than we expected in a city of this size. The nursing homes here received a first-rate city grade of A. Even with a relatively limited number of nursing homes, this is still quite an achievement. We were so impressed with Gilbert that we rated it as one of the 250 best cities in the entire country. This is impressive since we assessed thousands of cities around the nation. One of the best aspects of this place's stellar report card is its nursing homes' inspection scores. Inspection grades are discussed in the next section.
In addition to performing well in its overall grade, most of the nursing homes in Gilbert performed remarkably well in terms of its inspection grade. In fact, some of the nursing homes in the city received almost perfect inspection reports this year. Consequently, we awarded it one of our best ratings in that category with an A+. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in determining these inspection ratings. One key factor is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of the deficiencies is usually more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some deficiencies are quite insignificant. In addition, the city performed extremely well in our short-term care category as well. Consequently, we awarded Gilbert an A in this category. Rounding out its phenomenal profile, Gilbert were awarded an A- for its nursing rating and a grade of B+ for long-term care.
