With 44,837 people, Patchogue, New York is a relatively small city. There are only 2 nursing homes in the city, which does not offer you too many options to choose from. Despite not having a ton of nursing homes, this city's nursing homes received a strong city grade of B+. For comparison's sake, we also looked at the facilities in the nearby city of Bay Shore, which received a city grade of D. We found Patchogue to be on a whole other level. Even in a state with many good places to find nursing homes, we ranked Patchogue as one of the twenty five highest rated cities in New York.
In addition to having quality nursing homes on the whole, this city's nursing homes really excelled in the category of inspections, where we gave it an A+. Very few cities earned a better grade in this area. Arguably the most significant factor we look at in determining our inspection ratings is deficiencies. These deficiencies can be found on a facility's inspection reports. Places with higher scores in this category typically avoided the more severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. We also wanted to point out that we awarded the city a grade of A- for our long-term care category. In the other categories we looked at, the city earned a B- in our short-term care category and a grade of B- for nursing.
