For comparison's sake, we also looked at the nursing homes in the nearby city of Gastonia, which received a city grade of C. We found Huntersville to be slightly better. The best part of this city's strong report card was its nursing homes' inspection reports. Inspection grades are discussed in the next paragraph
In addition to performing well in its overall grade, many of the nursing homes in Huntersville performed spectacularly well in the area of inspections. In fact, some of the nursing homes in the city received almost perfect inspection reports this year. Consequently, we awarded it one of our highest ratings in that category with an A. Inspection ratings account for several factors found on a nursing home's inspection report. One key criteria we consider is the number and severity of deficiencies. Places with better scores in this category tend to have very few of these severe deficiencies. Huntersville earned a B+ for the city's short-term care rating. In our final two categories, Huntersville were awarded a B- for nursing and a grade of B- in the area of long-term care.
