Facility Inspections
On top of receiving a strong overall grade, this facility also earned top notch government inspections in recent years. We gave them one of our higher grades in this area, with a grade of A. Inspection scores are tied to datapoints located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places that score well in this area typically have very few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. Amazingly, this was one of the few nursing homes in the country that had no deficiencies whatsoever on its inspection report. This is very impressive. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Short-term Care Quality
Among the reasons we rated this facility so favorably is that it was awarded a strong short-term care grade. Indeed, short-term care is its second most favorable category score. In that category, we gave this nursing home a grade of A-. Our short-term care grade is often employed to judge a nursing home's performance with rehabilitation. To have highly scored rehabilitation services, facilities generally must provide better levels of skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and other highly skilled individuals. We weren't able to find registered nurse or physical therapy staffing data for this facility. Finally, we considered the number of patients who eventually returned home from this nursing home. We found that 6.5 percent of this facility's residents returned home.

Long-term Care Quality
This facility was awarded a strong long-term care score as well. We awarded it one of our better grades in that category with a grade of B+. Facilities that receive this type of score in this category tend to provide consistent 24/7 care to ensure patients are well cared for. After we finished assessing the amount of nursing care, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination data. This nursing home vaccinated 82.17054 percent of its patients against pneumonia. While its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we like to see, at least this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
Nurse Quality
The last area we looked at was nursing, where this nursing home was given a grade of B-. While this wound up being its weakest category grade, this is still not a bad grade. In computing a nursing home's nursing score, we look at the number of hours nurses are with residents as well as the levels of training of those nurses. This nursing home provides only 0.4 hours of nursing care per patient each day. This is a somewhat discouraging figure as it is well below average. Lastly, nursing grades also factor in quality-based metrics, such as preventing major falls. Despite not having the highest total nursing hours per resident, this facility actually performed admirably in the area of preventing major falls. This is generally a reliable indicator that a facility has quality controls in place. Many falls could be avoided if a nursing home supplies enough nurses aids to assist its residents.
