There are three facilities in Bedford, New Hampshire, so at least you have a few options to choose from. We awarded the nursing homes here a top-notch city grade of A-. Even with only a few facilities, this is still a great achievement. We also assessed the nursing homes in the nearby city of Haverhill, which received a city grade of B+. As good as the nursing homes are in Haverhill, we found Bedford to be even better. This place's impressive profile was highlighted by its nursing homes' inspection scores, which we will address in the next paragraph.
In addition to receiving a strong overall grade, most of the facilities in Bedford performed extremely well in our inspection category. In fact, we awarded the city a grade of A for this category, which is one of our best scores. Arguably the most important factor we consider in calculating our inspection ratings is deficiencies. These deficiencies are found on a facility's inspection reports. Nursing homes with better scores in this category typically avoided the more severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. In addition, we also awarded this city an A- in our long-term care rating. Rounding out its first-rate report card, the city earned grades of A- and B+ for our short-term care and nursing areas respectively.
