One of the many reasons this turned out to be a quality nursing home is that it received an A+ inspection grade. This is simply as good as it gets in this critical category. Perhaps the most significant factor we look at in computing our inspection ratings is deficiencies. These deficiencies are found on a nursing home's inspection reports. Facilities with better scores in this area typically dodged the more severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. Unfortunately, we weren't able to find information on deficiency's for this nursing home. Without having the deficiency data for this nursing home, it was a challenge to grade the place in the inspections category.

This nursing home was awarded an impressive long-term care grade as well. We gave it one of our higher grades in that category with a grade of B+. Facilities that receive this kind of grade in long-term care tend to provide consistent around the clock care to make sure patients are well cared for. On top of considering the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility vaccinated 100 percent of its patients. Vaccines are critical to keeping patients healthy. The last statistic we assessed is its hospitalization rate. We found that this place had 2.82 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. While this wasn't as strong as some of its other scores in this category, this statistic may be skewed for some facilities based on the medical complexity of residents.

This nursing home received a strong short-term care grade as well. We awarded it one of our better scores in that category with a grade of B. Our short-term care scores are based on a nursing home's quantity of highly-skilled highly skilled professionals. This includes a broad spectrum of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, in addition to other types of therapy. Fortunately, this nursing home offers both physical therapists and registered nurses. Not all facilities offer both. The final measure we assessed in this category is the number of patients that eventually returned home from the nursing home. It fared respectably with 48.4 percent of its residents returning home.

Turning to our last category, this nursing home was awarded a respectable nursing rating. Although this was not quite as impressive as several of its other scores, this is truly not a terrible score. The nursing grade consists of quite a few data points, however, the most important consideration is the level of nurse hours spent with patients. This nursing home averages 3.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, our nursing grades also factor in some quality-focused statistics. Specifically, we look at the percent of residents who sustained pressure ulcers and major falls. We look at these metrics as reliable indicators of the quality of nursing care, since better care tends to reduce these problems.
