Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

One of the many reasons this ended up being a great nursing home is that it earned an A+ inspection grade. This is just about as good as it gets in this category. Our inspection scores are tied to many items found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places that score well in this area have few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. Fortunately, although this facility had a few minor dings on its inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This tells you that the inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

We also would like to point out the fact that this facility was given a superb score of A in our long-term care category. Nursing homes that do well in this category typically provide patients with better supervision and stay on top of routine healthcare services. In addition to looking at the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility administered the vaccine to 99.60784 percent of its residents, which is an impressive figure. Pneumonia is too frequently a life threatening ailment for nursing home patients so we like it when a nursing home does not leave this to chance. Lastly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

The third category we looked at was short-term care. Contributing to its elite resume, this facility also performed well in this area. In fact, it received a grade of of A for that category. Short-term care grades are commonly used to judge a nursing home's performance with rehabilitation In order to offer highly graded rehabilitation services, facilities generally need to have better levels of highly skilled nursing. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and other types of therapists. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Finally, we looked at the number of residents that were able to return home from this facility. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's patients were able to return home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

In the last area, this facility also was awarded an excellent nursing score, with an A-. This completed a first-rate profile. When determining a nursing home's nursing score, we look at the amount of time nurses are with residents and the level of licensure of the nurses. This facility provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This facility performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a place has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can often be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.
