Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

On top of being a first rate nursing home overall, this nursing home also excelled in our inspections category, where it earned an A+. Few places fared this well in this area. These inspection grades weigh several factors, including deficiencies and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these issues by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. While this place had some minor dings on its report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones found in categories G through L. This tells you CMS didn't consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Among its many dominant scores, this facility was awarded an excellent long-term care score. In fact, it received a score of A in this category. In addition to looking at the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home vaccinated 95.51724 percent of its residents, which is more than the average nursing home. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

This facility also was elite in the category of short-term care, where it received a grade of A-. Not many facilities performed better in this category. Our short-term care scores are based on the facility's quantity of highly-skilled highly skilled professionals. This means a broad range of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, in addition to other types of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. However, based on the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The last measure we considered in this area is the number of residents who ultimately were able to return home from the facility. We found that 5.4 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-plus

In the last category we rated, this facility received a very favorable grade of B+ in our nursing category. With this score, the nursing home rounded out a first-rate profile. When computing a nursing home's nursing rating, we consider the quantity of hours nurses are seeing residents as well as the level of licensure of those nurses. This particular nursing home provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed certain nursing quality measures in computing our nursing grades. These include minimizing residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We look at these statistics as reliable measures of the quality of nursing care offered, since better care tends to reduce these problems.
