With just four nursing homes in the city, there are only a couple of options in Shawnee, Kansas. This place's limited supply of nursing homes were awarded a city grade of B. This city's city grade was a bit better than the city grade of nursing homes in the local city of Leavenworth. While the nursing homes in Leavenworth are not terrible, we found Shawnee to be a better bet. We were also pleased to find that this city's nursing homes didn't have any poor grades in any of the major categories discussed below. More information about these categories is available in the next section.
In addition to performing well in its overall grade, this city performed remarkably well in our inspections category. In fact, some of the nursing homes in the city received almost perfect inspection reports this year. As a result, the city received one of our best grades in that area with an A. Arguably the most critical factor we look at in calculating our inspection scores is deficiencies. These deficiencies are found on a facility's inspection reports. Nursing homes with better scores in this category most likely avoided the more severe deficiencies involving health risks or even death. Shawnee also fared well in the category of government short-term care with a B. In our final two categories, Shawnee earned a B for its nursing grade and a C in the area of long-term care.
