Winchester, Kentucky is a relatively small city with 35,262 people. The city has just one nursing home, which is fewer than we were hoping for. We awarded the city's sole nursing home a grade of B, which is a quality grade. This should provide you with at least one solid option. This is as good or better than the city grade of the average city in the United States. The best aspect of this nursing home's impressive report card was its inspection score. Inspection reports are discussed in the next section
In addition to performing well in its overall grade, this city's lone nursing home performed spectacularly well in our inspections category. In fact, it received a nearly flawless inspection report this year. Consequently, it received one of our highest ratings in that category with an A. Perhaps the most significant factor we look at in calculating our inspection grades is deficiencies. These deficiencies are found on a facility's inspection reports. Places with higher scores in this category most likely avoided the most severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. Winchester's second best category is long-term care where we gave it a B- in this area. In the other categories we looked at, Winchester earned a B- for its short-term care rating and a C for nursing.
