Facility Inspections
While we were not high on this nursing home overall, we awarded it a B- for inspections. This grade is more respectable than the facility's overall grade. Inspection ratings take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these factors by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Although this nursing home had a few deficiencies on its government inspection report, none of them were severe based on CMS' scale. Finally, CMS flagged this nursing home for possible abuse or neglect. This is not what you want to see. We advise you to direct your search elsewhere.
Long-term Care Quality
The second most favorable area we gave this facility in any area came in the area of long-term care, where we gave it a B-. In the category of long-term care, we analyze the quantity of care provided by a facility, as opposed to more medically-intensive services. One of the datapoints we considered on top of nurse's aid hours was vaccinations. Thankfully, this nursing home provided the pneumonia vaccination to 99.78261 percent of its residents. Finally, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. With just 1.09 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this nursing home had fewer hospitalizations than many nursing homes.
Short-term Care Quality
The next area we looked at is short-term care, where this nursing home was awarded a C in this area. In calculating these short-term care ratings, we assess the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. Our goal is to formulate a barometer for comparing the rehabilitation services of different nursing homes. One of this nursing home's strengths is physical therapy hours. We found that it offers more hours with physical therapists to its residents than most facilities. The final item we assessed in this category is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. This place was above average in this area with 52.3 percent of its residents returning home.
Nurse Quality
Turning to our final category, this facility received a respectable nursing grade of C. The nursing grade is based on many factors. The most heavily weighted variable is the quantity of hours nurses spent with residents. This facility provided 3.8 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at a few nursing quality measures and this facility excelled in some of these statistics. With fewer than five percent of its patients sustaining pressure ulcers, it fared well in this datapoint.
