Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

To go along with its strong overall score, we gave this nursing home an A+ for our inspection category. Our inspection grades are tied to several datapoints located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities that receive favorable grades in this category typically have very few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these places generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

This facility also received a strong short-term care score. This actually is this nursing home's second best category grade. In that category, we gave this facility a score of A. In our short-term care score, we seek to create a valuable barometer for rehabilitation services. In doing so, we look at a facility's levels of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, based on the data they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Finally, we considered the number of residents who were able to return home from this facility. We found that 6.1 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

Turning our third area, we awarded this nursing home a score of A- for its long-term care score. This is a dominant score. Nursing homes that do well in long-term care tend to provide residents with more supervision and stay on top of routine medical care. In addition to looking at the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility provided the vaccine to 96.354164 percent of its patients, which is better than the vast majority of nursing homes. Finally, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

In our final area, we awarded this facility a grade of A+ for its nursing score. This completed an elite profile. The nursing rating includes quite a few data points, but the paramount one is the level of nurse hours spent with patients. This nursing home averages 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also assessed certain nursing quality measures in computing our nursing grades. These include minimizing residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We view these areas as predictive indicators of the quality of nursing care provided, since better care tends to reduce these problems.
