To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A+ for its nursing grade. Our nursing score includes many datapoints. The most heavily weighted variable is the amount of time nurses spent with residents. This place provides an incredible 6.2 hours of nursing care per resident on a daily basis. Out of this total, many of the hours were provided by registered nurses, which is one of the most highly trained levels of nurses. In addition to offering high levels of nursing care, this nursing home also excelled in the quality-based metrics we looked at. By way of illustration, it performed as well as any facility in Kentucky in the area of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. We look at these areas as good measures of the quality of nursing care being provided.
Facility Inspections
This facility also received an A+ inspection grade, making it one of the rare places to receive multiple A+'s in our category grades. This is based on the facility's recent inspections. An A+ in this category is one of the highest complements we can pay to a nursing home. Nursing homes that do well in this category tend to provide patients with better supervision and stay on top of routine healthcare services. In addition to offering very impressive levels of nursing care and other staffing, this nursing home gave the pneumonia vaccine to 97.297295 percent of its patients. Vaccines are vital to keeping residents out of the hospital. This combination proved to be successful as this place also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
