With two nursing homes in the city, there are only a few options to choose from in Middle Island, New York. We gave this city a city grade of B for overall nursing home quality. For comparison's sake, we also assessed the facilities in the nearby city of Bridgeport, which which also appears to be a decent option. However, we found the nursing homes in Middle Island to be rated a bit higher than the ones in Bridgeport. On top of having excellent nursing homes overall, this city's nursing homes really excelled in the category of inspections, where it received an A+. Not many cities fared this well in this category. Arguably the most important factor we consider in calculating our inspection scores is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a facility's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes with higher scores in this category typically avoided the most severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. Middle Island also received one of our better scores in our short-term care category, with a B+. In the other categories we looked at, the city received slightly below average grades for our long-term care and nursing categories.
