With a population of 19,929 people, Cortlandt Manor, New York is a small city. There are only 2 nursing homes in the city, which does not give you too many options. These nursing homes received on average an overall grade of C. This isn't a terrible score, but it is not as strong of a score as we had hoped for either. We also looked at the facilities in the nearby city of Newburgh, which received a city grade of D. While we aren't raving about either city, we found the nursing homes in Cortlandt Manor to be a bit better. One of the best aspects of this place's profile is its remarkable inspection score, which is addressed in the next section.
While its overall grade was somewhat average, we awarded Cortlandt Manor an A+ for our inspections rating. Inspection scores are based on many pieces of information found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places that receive favorable grades in this area have few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. The city also excelled in the area of health long-term care with a B. In the last two categories, the city were awarded a grade of C for its short-term care rating and a grade of F for nursing. Despite an otherwise respectable profile, a nursing score in this range may be an ominous sign for nursing staffing levels.
