Facility Inspections

Grade: A

One of the reasons this place is a strong nursing home is that it earned an impressive inspection grade. In fact, inspections is its best category. In that area, we awarded it a grade of A. Inspection ratings are tied to many items found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities that receive favorable grades in this category tend to have few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

This nursing home fared well in the area of long-term care. As a result, we awarded it a score of A- for that area, which turns out to be one of our most elite scores. For patients looking for a permanent residence as opposed to rehabilitation, long-term care grades are a key measure. In addition to considering the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home provided the vaccine to 74.425285 percent of its residents, which is a bit less than we were hoping for. While its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we had hoped, we were pleased to find nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

The next area we assessed is short-term care. This nursing home was given an above average short-term care score, with a B+ in this area. With our short-term care assessment, we endeavor to craft a sound barometer for rehabilitation services. In doing so, we assess a nursing home's scope of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not all nursing homes employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, based on the information this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Finally, we considered the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 5.9 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: C

Turning to our fourth category, this nursing home was awarded a respectable nursing rating. Even though this isn't quite as good as some of its other scores, this is really not a terrible score. The nursing rating features a variety of data points. The most important variable is the number of hours nurses spent with residents. This place provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient per day. This is a relatively low total compared to most nursing homes. Lastly, our nursing grades also factor in some quality-focused measures. We look at the percentage of patients who sustained pressure ulcers and major falls. Sometimes these metrics are decent measures of the quality of nursing care, since better care can reduce these problems.
