With a population of 42,758 people, Gallatin, Tennessee is a relatively small city. There are only 3 nursing homes in the city, which doesn't provide you with too many choices. These facilities did not really excel from a quality perspective either. The city was awarded a city grade of C, which is not one of our stronger grades at the city level. We also looked at the nursing homes in the nearby city of Smyrna. While we aren't writing glowing reviews about either city, we found the facilities in Gallatin to be slightly better. One of the major highlights of this city's report card is its exemplary inspection reports, which is addressed in the following paragraph.
While its overall grade was fairly ordinary, we awarded this city an A- for our inspections rating. Inspection ratings account for a host of factors found on a nursing home's inspection report. One of the most important criteria we look at is the number and severity of deficiencies. Facilities with better grades in this category generally have very few severe deficiencies. The city also received one of our better scores in our short-term care category, with a B. In the last two categories, we gave Gallatin a C for its nursing score and a C in the area of long-term care.
