Facility Inspections

Grade: A

This facility received a solid overall grade as described above, but we really wanted to point out its excellent inspections in recent years. We gave them an A in this category. Inspection grades are based on items found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities that score well in this area tend to have few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these facilities should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. This facility received 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none of the deficiencies were considered severe. This means that CMS did not consider any of the deficiencies to create an imminent threat to resident safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

Another one of this nursing home's better category scores came in the category of long-term care. In that area, we awarded this nursing home a B+. It actually outpaced most nursing homes in this category. For prospective patients seeking a permanent residence as opposed to skilled nursing, long-term care grades are a key measure. After looking at the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination data. This facility vaccinated 83.18965 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which happens to be a bit below what we expected but still a respectable percentage. While its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we like to see, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0.03 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The next best category we awarded this nursing home in any category came in the area of short-term care, where we awarded it a B-. With our short-term care category, we seek to forge a sound barometer for rehabilitation services. In doing so, we assess the facility's levels of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. Unfortunately, it does not look like this facility provided information about its staffing of registered nurses or physical therapists. Finally, we assessed the percentage of residents who ultimately returned home from this facility. We found that 5.7 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was well below average.

Nurse Quality

Grade: F

Switching gears to the next category, this facility really did not fare very well. Due to a bottom of the barrel grade of F in nursing, this is this facility's weakest category. The nursing rating assesses quite a few data points, most of which are based on levels of nurse staffing. This facility provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. To pair with its subpar totals in the area of nursing hours per patient, this nursing home also didn't fare as well in the quality-based measures we looked at in calculating our nursing scores. We looked at the percentage of patients sustaining pressure ulcers and major falls. This facility had more falls and pressure ulcers than the average facility. This may be a bad sign when you consider that many falls and bed sores are preventable with better nursing care. These metrics pulled down this nursing home's nursing grade quite a bit.
