Facility Inspections

Grade: A

On top of being a first rate facility overall, this place also excelled in inspections, where it received an A. Few nursing homes performed better in this area. Inspection scores are tied to several datapoints found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places that excel in this category typically have very few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. This nursing home received 4 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe deficiencies. This means that CMS did not consider any of these deficiencies an imminent threat to resident health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

Contributing to its fine resume, this facility also was awarded a superb short-term care score, with a score of A-. In our short-term care grade, we strive to craft a meaningful gauge for rehabilitation services. In this process, we look at a facility's offerings of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. However, based on the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Finally, we assessed the number of residents who eventually returned home from this facility. We found that 5.7 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

We also wanted to point out the fact that this facility received a superb score of A- in our long-term care category. For long-term care residents, the facility's primary goal is to maintain residents' quality of life and keep them safe. After we finished assessing the volume of nursing care, we turned to the facility's vaccination data. This nursing home vaccinated 80.90909 percent of its patients against pneumonia. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.03 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

The last category we scored is nursing, in which this nursing home was given a B-. Even though this wound up being its worst category rating, this is nevertheless nothing to be ashamed of. Nursing scores are primarily based on a facility's level of nurse staffing. This facility provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a relatively low total compared to most other nursing homes. Lastly, we look at quality-based statistics, such as the percentage of patients who sustained pressure ulcers and major falls. These data points are decent measures of the quality of nursing care.
