There are two facilities in Lansing, Kansas, which at least gives you a few choices. While it only has a couple of nursing homes, this city received a top-notch city grade of A-. By way of comparison, we awarded the facilities in the nearby city of Kansas City a city grade of B-, which is not a bad grade. However, we found the nursing homes in Lansing to be rated much higher than the ones in Kansas City. This city's strong report card was highlighted by its nursing homes' inspection grades, which we will address in the next section.
In addition to receiving a strong overall grade, most of the nursing homes in Lansing performed spectacularly well in our inspection category. In fact, we awarded Lansing an A for that category, which is one of our best scores. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in computing our inspection scores. One key factor is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of the deficiencies is arguably more important than the number of deficiencies, as some end up being relatively insignificant. In addition, we also awarded this city an A for our long-term care rating. Rounding out its quality profile, Lansing received a B+ in our nursing category and a grade of B in short-term care. We truly found this city to be very strong in each category we assessed.
