With 21 nursing homes in the city, Shreveport, Louisiana has more nursing homes than the overwhelming majority of American cities. These facilities earned on average an overall grade of C. This isn't a bad score, but it is not quite as high of a grade as we had hoped for either. This score unfortunately ended up on the wrong side of the national average. The best part of this city's report card was its nursing homes' exemplary inspection reports. Inspection reports are discussed in the following section.

While its overall score was fairly ordinary, this city performed spectacularly well in our inspection category. In fact, we awarded Shreveport an A for that category, which is one of our highest scores. Perhaps the most critical factor we consider in determining our inspection scores is deficiencies. These deficiencies are found on a facility's recent inspection reports. Places with higher grades in this area most likely avoided the more severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. In addition, the city earned a B in the area of long-term care. Lastly, Shreveport earned abysmal grades for our short-term care and nursing areas respectively.
