With a population of 19,556 people, Indianola, Iowa is a relatively small city. There are just 3 nursing homes there, which does not give you too many choices. While this place didn't have a ton of nursing homes, this city received a world class city grade of A-. Indianola has the distinction of being one of the twenty five highest rated cities in Iowa. This is also a reminder that Iowa has a long list of cities with excellent facilities. The best aspect of Indianola's impressive report card is its nursing homes' inspection grades. Inspection reports are discussed in the next section
In addition to receiving a strong overall grade, most of the facilities in Indianola performed extremely well in our inspection category. In fact, we awarded the city an A+ for this category, which is one of our best scores. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in calculating these inspection grades. One key factor is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some of these are quite minor. In addition, we also wanted to point out that we awarded the city an A- for our short-term care category. In the other categories we looked at, Indianola earned a B+ for its nursing score and a B- for long-term care.
