With 212,318 people, Des Moines, Iowa is a fairly large city. Surprisingly, there are only 5 nursing homes in the city, which is not as many as we expected in a city of this size. This small group of nursing homes received on average an overall grade of B, which is a quality rating for the city. This is an average city grade nationally, which is perfectly respectable. The best aspect of this nursing home's strong profile was its nursing homes' nursing grades. We discuss nursing in the next paragraph.
As mentioned above, this city's nursing homes received a strong overall grade, but we especially wanted to point out that we awarded Des Moines an elite grade of A- for this area. With a nursing score of this caliber we'd expect many of the facilities in Des Moines to have high levels of nurse staffing. The city also received one of our higher grades in the area of short-term care, with a B+. Rounding out its impressive profile, we gave the city a B for inspections and a B in the area of long-term care. We found this city to be very strong in every category.
