With 13,196 people, Gladewater, Texas is a relatively small city. There are only 2 nursing homes there, which doesn't provide you with too many options. The nursing homes here received an excellent city grade of A-. Even with only a few nursing homes, this is still quite an accomplishment. For comparison's sake, we also assessed the nursing homes in the nearby city of Marshall, which has some decent nursing homes of its own. Nevertheless, we found the facilities in Gladewater to be in a totally different league than the ones in Marshall. Lastly, Gladewater is also one of the top 500 cities in the country.
On top of having excellent nursing homes on the whole, this city's nursing homes really excelled in the area of inspections, where we gave it a grade of A+. Very few cities fared this well in this category. Perhaps the most critical factor we look at in determining our inspection scores is deficiencies. These deficiencies are found on a nursing home's inspection reports. Places with better scores in this area most likely dodged the most severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. Gladewater also performed extremely well in our long-term care category, where it received a grade of A for this category. In the other categories we looked at, Gladewater earned middle of the pack grades for our nursing and short-term care categories.
