Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-plus

In addition to receiving a great overall grade, this facility also received an A+ long-term care grade. When facilities receive this kind of score in this category it is typically a good sign for patient care and suggests that the nursing home is well-staffed with nurses aids. On top of looking at the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility provided the vaccine to 100 percent of its residents, which is significantly higher than most nursing homes. Lastly, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Facility Inspections

Grade: A

This nursing home has earned near flawless health inspections recently. We gave them an A in this area. Our inspection ratings are based on several items found on the a nursing home's government inspections. Places that excel in this area tend to have few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these places should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. Although this facility had a few deficiencies on its inspection report, none of them were major deficiencies based on CMS' deficiency scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-plus

In addition, this facility also received favorable nursing grades this year. In fact, we awarded them one of our better scores in that area, with a grade of B+. When determining our nursing ratings, we analyze both the number of hours nurses spend with residents and the skill levels of those nurses. This facility provided 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This place performed very well when it comes to minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: D

The last area we assessed is short-term care, which proved to be this facility's weakest category. We gave this facility a grade of D in this category. However, you shouldn't judge this facility solely on a single weak area, as it was awarded several high-end scores in other areas. Our short-term care ratings are arguably more meaningful for folks in need of rehabilitation services. Rehabilitation usually requires higher levels of highly-skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes not merely nursing, but also physical and speech therapy, as well as other variations of therapy. We found that this nursing home was below average in terms of its quantity of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its patients based on the metrics we looked at. Finally, we considered the percentage of patients that ultimately returned home from this nursing home. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 0 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.
