Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

Even though we did not rate this facility well overall, we want to acknowledge it received a decent grade of B- in nursing. When determining a nursing home's nursing rating, we look at the quantity of hours nurses are caring for residents and the level of licensure of those nurses. This place provided just 0 hours of nursing care per patient daily. This is a relatively low total compared to most other nursing homes. Lastly, despite not having the highest total nursing hours per resident, this place performed admirably in the metric of preventing major falls. This is often a reliable indicator that a place has quality controls in place.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

We also awarded this nursing home a middle of the road score in the category of short-term care, where we awarded it a B-. In computing our short-term care grades, we scrutinize a nursing home's levels of highly skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists occupational therapists and other highly trained professionals. This score is frequently a reliable assessment of a nursing home's rehabilitation. Unfortunately, this place was below average in terms of its number of registered nurse and physical therapy hours provided to its residents based on the measures we assessed. The last item we looked at in this area is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We discovered that just 5.6 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home, which is actually below average.

Facility Inspections

Grade: C

This facility received slightly below average inspections in recent years. We gave them a grade of C in this category. Inspection grades are based on pieces of information found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are a key thing to look for on these reports. Severe deficiencies indicate a threat to the well being of residents. Surprisingly, this facility was hit with a category J through K deficiency, which are some of the worst categories of deficiencies. This typically indicates inspectors uncovered a deficiency which placed patient health or safety in imminent jeopardy. We are also concerned by the fact that this facility was flagged by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. We prefer to avoid facilities with this designation. Please do your best to find an alternative nursing home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: C

The final area we graded is long-term care. We awarded this nursing home a grade of C in that category. Long-term care ratings are based on the facility's amount of care. This means a broad spectrum of personal care services, ranging from help with activities of daily living to routine healthcare services. One of the data points we considered after nursing hours is vaccines. Thankfully, this facility administered the pneumonia vaccination to 98.809525 percent of its patients. This facility also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
