Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

We want to note that this facility earned a far better grade for short-term care than its overall score. It received one of our best grades in that category with an A-. In the area of short-term care, we try to evaluate measures of a nursing home's rehabilitation services. We assess the facility's skilled nursing services, such as the ones performed by registered nurses and various therapists. Unfortunately, we weren't able to find information about this nursing home's registered nurse or physical therapy staffing. Finally, we looked at the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 5.5 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.

Facility Inspections

Grade: B-minus

We also awarded this nursing home a grade of B- for our inspections rating. This is a very respectable nursing score. Inspection ratings are based on several pieces of information located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are an important thing to look for on these reports. Severe deficiencies indicate a threat to patient safety. This particular nursing home received 4 deficiencies on its inspection report. Overall, this is still a solid inspection report, but we'd always recommend looking into any deficiencies you find troubling.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

This nursing home's next best category was nursing. We awarded it a grade of B- in this category. This is basically a middle of the road grade in this category. Nursing ratings are based in large part on quality and quantity of nursing care. This nursing home provides 0 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Lastly, our nursing grades also consider quality-based assessments, such as preventing major falls. Despite not having the highest total nursing hours per resident, this nursing home actually performed admirably in the metric of preventing major falls. This is usually a good indicator that a place has quality controls in place. Many falls could be avoided if a nursing home supplies enough nurses to assist its patients.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: D

The last area we scored is long-term care, which is a weak link for this nursing home. We awarded this facility an D for the area of long-term care. For prospective patients seeking a permanent place to live rather than rehabilitation, long-term care is a very important category. Once we looked at the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we turned to the facility's vaccination records. This facility vaccinated 100 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which is better than the average nursing home. Surprisingly, this facility was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. It had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. Sadly, a few of its other scores in this category were not as favorable as these.
