With just three nursing homes in the city, there are only a couple of choices in Bay City, Texas. Unfortunately, these nursing homes didn't excel from a quality standpoint. Its nursing homes were given a city grade of D, which is a very poor score at the city level. For comparison's sake, we also looked at the nursing homes in the nearby city of Alvin, which received a city grade of F. While we gave both cites poor grades, we found the facilities in Bay City to be a bit better. The best thing we can say about this place is that it didn't receive any F's in in any of the major categories. More information about its category grades can be found below.
This city's nursing homes received an awful overall grade, however, we wanted to acknowledge the city's respectable government inspections in recent years. We gave it a B- in that area. Inspection grades weigh a host of factors found on a facility's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we weigh heavily is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Surprisingly, this city performed better in our long-term care category as well, where it earned a C for this category. In our final two categories, this place received a C for short-term care and a grade of D in nursing. In spite of an otherwise decent profile, a nursing grade of this caliber may be an ominous sign for levels of nurse staffing.
