Facility Inspections

Grade: A

This nursing home earned a solid overall grade as described above, but we really wanted to point out its excellent inspections in recent years. We awarded them an impressive grade of A in this category. Inspection grades are based on items located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities that excel in this area have very few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these facilities generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. Although this facility had some deficiencies on its inspection report, none were serious based on CMS' scale. A couple of minor deficiencies should not stop you from considering a nursing home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B

Another one of this facility's more favorable category grades was in the category of long-term care. In that category, we gave this nursing home a B. It actually performed better than most facilities in this area. When nursing homes receive a score in this range in this category it typically means it's well-staffed and is a quality place to reside on a permanent basis. After considering the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we turned to the facility's vaccination statistics. This nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its residents for pneumonia. Vaccines are critical to keeping residents healthy. Lastly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: C

This nursing home was awarded its third most favorable category grade in the category of short-term care. We awarded this facility a C in this area, which is a respectable score. Our short-term care ratings are based on a nursing home's quantity of highly-skilled nursing services. This means a vast spectrum of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other types of therapy. Unfortunately, this place was below average in terms of its number of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its residents based on the metrics we assessed. The last datapoint we looked at in this area is the number of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return home. We discovered that just 5.1 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home, which is below average.

Nurse Quality

Grade: C

The last category we rated was nursing. We awarded it a C in this area. This is a decent grade in this category. The nursing rating includes many factors. The most heavily weighted factor is the amount of time nurses spent with patients. This facility provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per patient per day. This is a low total compared with most other nursing homes. Lastly, despite not having the highest total nursing hours per resident, this facility actually performed admirably in the area of preventing major falls. This is generally an indicator that a facility has quality controls in place.
