Facility Inspections
This facility received a solid overall grade as described above, but we really wanted to point out its excellent health inspection reports in recent years. We awarded them an A in this category. Inspection ratings account for a host of factors included in a facility's inspection report. One of the most important criteria we look at is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Places with higher grades in this category generally have very few severe deficiencies. Fortunately, although this nursing home had a few minor dings on its report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means the government inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. A couple of minor deficiencies should not lead you to cross a nursing home off your list.
Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home's long-term care rating turns out to be one of its respectable grades. The facility received a B- in this category. Our long-term care grades are more meaningful for people requiring more traditional services associated with activities of daily living. One of the criteria we considered after nursing hours is vaccinations. Fortunately, this facility administered the pneumonia vaccination to 100 percent of its residents. This facility also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Short-term Care Quality
Unfortunately, this nursing home only earned a D for its short-term care score, which is not one of our better scores. Short-term care scores are meaningful for residents looking for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation generally utilizes higher levels of highly-skilled nursing. This means a broad range of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other forms of therapy. Not surprisingly, we found that this nursing home provides significantly less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per patient than the typical facility. Finally, we assessed the percentage of patients who who were able to eventually return home from this nursing home. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 0 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.
Nurse Quality
This nursing home's least impressive area was nursing, which is the final category we scored. Unfortunately, we gave it a lowly F in this area. Despite a few acceptable grades in other categories, this score is still of a concern so we would like to to point it out. There are many data points within this area. Many of these criteria relate to the quantity and quality of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in calculating our nursing grades. This facility performed well in terms of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls.
